Part 3- Powerpoint (A)

Prior to taking this competency assessment you should re-familiarize yourself with the TCA Agreement Form. That form can be found at the following website: http://www.byuiedtechlab.com/tca-agreements.html

Instructions:

1.    Look over the following instructions, content, and example given to you by the lab assistant.
2.    We recommend using an Internet timer to keep track of your time during the test. (You can Google the keyword “Timer” to find one easily).
3.    When you are completely ready to start your test, let the Lab Assistant know by messaging them "Start Time" in the chat box on Zoom and this will officially start your time.
4.    When you are finished you are responsible for making sure the Lab Assistant is notified of your official end time in the chat box, as explained below. (We recommend reviewing your test one last time before finishing).

Follow all directions carefully.  Using the content provided on this webpage, create a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint to use with your students about Adam Smith. The presentation should look as close to the example as possible (same layout, colors, fonts, etc.), while following the written instructions exactly. Also view the example presentation online to see the animations and to hear the audio. You may want to check off the tasks as you go to make sure you don’t miss any.

You will have one hour and fifteen minutes to complete this test.

Make sure you follow these instructions:
  • Choose any presentation theme with a dark-colored background and add Slides 2, 3, and 4.
  • Change all title text to Lucida Sans, yellow, any size.
  • Change all body text to Lucida Sans, white, any size.
  • Add the slide transition, "Uncover," with the effect option, "from right," and for a duration of 4 seconds on all slides.
  • Insert a picture of Adam Smith and a picture of his book from the links provided.
  • Inset a textbox at the at the bottom of Slides 2 and 3 and provide a hyperlink to the images you use.
  • Add the animation effect, "Fly In," to the image of Adam Smith on Slide 2 with the effect option, "from left," for the duration of 2 seconds.
  • Add the animation effect, "Fly In," to the image of the book on Slide 3 with the effect option, "from right," for the duration of 2 seconds.
  • Add the animation effect, "Float In," to the text on Slides 2 and 3 with the effect option, "from bottom."
  • Insert two heart shapes on the last slide and format the shapes as shown in the example.
  • Download the audio clip, Sound Effect of Cash Register," from the content webpage, and insert it on the last slide of the presentation.
  • Record an audio narration of the entire presentation by reading the text on all four slides.
  • Follow the instruction provided to you by your proctor in the chat box in Zoom.
  • When you are completely finished write "I'm Done" in the chat box with your proctor. This will allow them to mark the end time for your test.  If you make any changes to your test after this time it will be counted as an automatic fail.
  • Then the proctor will request mouse controls for your computer using Zoom. Choose "Accept" and the proctor will have remote control of your computer and will grade the test.
    • The proctor will then delete any confidential testing items that have been provided to you on your computer and empty the trash can.  If you do not comply with the stipulations on this portion of the test it will be counted as an automatic fail.
